Powered by GMC, The Fashion and Beauty Summit Returned Bigger and Better in 2017

A month has passed and I am still on a high from this amazing GMC powered experience.  The 2nd Annual Posh and Popular Fashion and Beauty Summit was nothing short of amazing. Never in my wildest dreams did I think this one idea, this little vision, would impact the lives of so many remarkable women.  This year we hosted the 2nd Annual Posh and Popular Fashion and Beauty Summit at the fabulous, Greektown Casino Hotel’s Ballroom, in the heart of Downtown Detroit! The first summit of its kind, in Detroit, MI, provides lovers of the fashion and beauty industry the tools they need to grow a flourishing brand, learn from some of the best names in the industry, and connect with others who share the same love for such an amazing and ever evolving industry. GMC helped to take this amazing summit to the next level by Powering the event, and I am so honored to have had the participation of such a multifaceted car brand. The mission to empower, enlighten, and excite every woman in attendance, was accomplished!

Our Mistress of Ceremonies, Jessica Lundy, Television Personality and Detroit TV20 host, did a fantastic job of keeping our attendees engaged throughout the day! She was certainly born to host, because her skill showed throughout the day! We even had a resident DJ! The one and only DJ Rue kept the sounds going and the energy high the entire day!

More than 200 Business Women and Fashionistas experienced live beauty demonstrations and makeovers with some of the best make-up artists and hair stylists in the industry, including celebrity hair and make-up artist, Kristen White owner of Kristen White Imagery, of Atlanta, GA,  celebrity make-up artist, Chaniece Coleman, and celebrity hairstylist, Dezi Santiago, owner of Sway’d Style Lounge in Birmingham Michigan. Attendees also experienced a natural hair beauty demonstration sponsored by Curls during our Beauty Breakout Sessions, facilitated by natural hair blogging powerhouses Janae Mason of Nae2Curly and Romance Cox of Hey Curlie.

We had over 25 vendors apart of our Posh Pop-Up Experience and a stylish glam suite for our attendees to get pampered and relax in between sessions! I am still upset I didn’t get to shop with each one, nor did I get my message with the staff from Bee’s Beauty Bar…. I promise, next year, I am going to enjoy more of the fun stuff!

Attendees took advantage of dynamic business breakout sessions, facilitated by me the founder of the Fashion and Beauty Summit, Kimberly M. Dobine on Communication in Business, Jessica Herron, Attorney at Honigman Law Firm presented “How to Protect Your Brand”, and Ebony Swank, owner of Swank-a-Posh Boutique facilitated her, Brand Like Swank Workshop, providing attendees with the tools they need to launch their own successful online fashion brands.  Thought provoking panel discussions on topics like “The Power of Partnerships” and “The Business of Blogging” provided attendees with the information, resources and real life experiences from our panelists, to truly feel confident in their pursuit of  building their dream fashion and beauty brands. The Posh and Popular Fashion and Beauty Summit equipped each attendee with the knowledge, tools, and resources needed to help them on the path to begin to be the digital influencer in the world of fashion and beauty they desire to be, as well as the savvy business woman they need to be to stay successful in their perspective field!

Our attendees also experienced two powerful keynote addresses, from two passionate and high powered women in the fashion and beauty industry, Ronne Brown and Nichole Lynel.
Ronne started the morning off with our signature ‘Beauty from the Inside Out’ keynote address. I believe it’s not enough to just be a great business woman, it’s also extremely important to be a woman of integrity, good character, and substance. Ronne did a phenomenal job of sharing her journey and important life lessons each lady could easily apply in their own lives.
Nichole Lynel also brought a fun and energetic presence to our main stage. Walking out to Beyoncé’s ‘Shining’, she ended our day with great energy and a powerful story of what pursuing purpose truly looks like. Both ladies touched each and every woman in attendance, including me!

I cannot forget our sneak peak of the amazing documentary She Did That, brought to us by Renae Bluitt of In Her Shoes Blog! Not only was Renae a panelist on the “Business of Blogging” panel, but she also hosted the “She Did That.” sneak peek featuring some of our favorite Detroit Girl Bosses, Kelli Coleman and Anika Jackson, co-founders of the Ten Nail Bar, and Melissa Butler, owner of The Lip Bar, who all appear in the film! GMC Also, Powered this screening, providing our attendees with branded popcorn for the occasion!

If you haven’t already heard, the Posh and Popular YouTube Series, Pink Kisses has taken things up a notch! We are out of my house, and in one of the most fabulous new private event spaces in Downtown Detroit, for the next several episodes! I wanted to give you more this season. More style, more ambiance, more beauty, more content with substance, and of course more fabulous female entrepreneurs to highlight! It was important that the space and the décor helped reflect each of those elements, and so the planning began!

What I wore for Episode 1:

Jumpsuit: House Of Chic LA
Shoes: Miu Miu
Signature Kiss Necklace: Lulu Frost
Belt: BCBG

We even invited you, our subscribers, to the party! We had an audience full of fabulous ladies excited to be apart of the conversation!

Don’t mind me, I was just welcoming all of our guests to the party!

What’s Cupcakes and Conversation without, cupcakes?

We kicked off our first episode of the season with a hot button topic that many people have been discussing over the last 8 months:
Do you expect your friends to support you in Business?

This Cupcakes and Conversation discussion topic derived from a tweet CurlBox Founder, Myleik Teele posted in the fall of 2016 that had social media in an uproar.

Our very own Brittany Adams wrote an entire article on MyBrownBox regarding this topic that sparked quite the conversation between she, Myleik, and myself via social media! Check out the episode, to hear more!

Say hello to our resident DJ! The talented and fabulous DJ XO! My vision was to turn this experience into one that our guests and subscribers would be excited to enjoy! And what’s better than a little party atmosphere? DJ XO kept the party going and the energy high for us the entire day!

I also had the pleasure of interviewing the amazing Shaleena Cole, the woman behind Leo Sage Images. She has been a friend to our brand for a while, and we wanted to hear more about her story and how she got her start in photography! You won’t want to miss a chance to hear from this awesome woman in business!

Our audience was all in, and it shows! Beautiful ladies!

Special thanks to some of our favorite brand partners for helping to make The Pink Kisses Live Experience such a beautiful success!

Amber Kirkland, with Velvet Touch Designs for the amazingly beautiful floral arrangements
Malika Goins, with Her Dream Décor for the stunning paper flower wall
Lauren Danials, owner of Sumptuous Spirits for sponsoring our cocktail bar
Monique Franklin, owner of Belles Berries and Treats for the beautiful desert spread
Piper Jenkins, Owner of Trendy Treatz- Cupcakes and Conversation could not go on with out you!

I love each of these ladies and their brands, and I’m always thrilled to have an opportunity to work with them! They help to keep all of my events fabulous!

Be sure to check out the first of many episodes this season, right now. And, stay tuned next Wednesday July 12, 2017 for an all new episode!

It Would Be A SCANDAL To Miss This Collection…..

The Limited Brand and ABC have come together to make every fashion lovers dream come true…

“Emmy and Golden Globe nominated actress Kerry Washington and costume designer Lyn Paolo, in partnership with Elliot Staples, head of design from The Limited, have developed a new fashion line exclusively for The Limited inspired by Shonda Rhimes’ top-rated ABC drama, Scandal, which airs Thursdays at 9pm EST and premieres its fourth season this fall.”

It is official… Every Scandal lover will have the ability to get a little piece of the Olivia Pope pie with this dream come true of a collection. As many of you know, I am a HUGE fan of the show Scandal, and I typically am watching to see what ‘Olivia’ will be wearing. Her wardrobe never ceases to amaze me. From the infamous white Burberry Pea-coat we saw last season, to her ability to make wearing light colored neutrals effortlessly chic and powerful. I am all over this new collection this upcoming Tuesday! It is set to be released in The Limited Stores across the country and online September 23, 2014. This is your chance to get the high end looks you fawn over on a weekly bases at a fraction of the cost!

I cannot wait to see the craftsmanship of the collection! The Limited, being a specialty retailer, is known for great quality and I have no doubt they have pulled all the stops for this exciting collaboration! Washington, Paolo and Staples collaboratively developed each piece in the collection, which is characterized by its authenticity, originality and unique details and trim. Tops, dresses, pants, jackets and outerwear are included in the fall collection, with prices beginning at $49. Yes, great quality at great prices!

I cannot wait to see this fabulous fall collection in person! I will definitely be getting my looks together this Tuesday, will you??  ! I’ll see you at The Limited!
