What do most fashionista’s search for in a vehicle?  Most times, it’s something with style, plenty of room for girl’s night out, and of course sleek performance, quality and the latest technology. The new Lincoln MKC delivers in each of those areas!

Posh and Popular Lincoln

For the last week I have been enjoying quiet luxury with this state of the art vehicle. It matches perfectly with my style and personality. It’s functional, spacious, luxurious, and great for girls on the go like myself! This week I had so many errands to run, in preparation for the inaugural Fashion and Beauty Summit, presented by Posh and Popular, and the Lincoln MKC saved my life! The hands free trunk access feature, made it so easy to throw all of the attendee gift bags in the trunk! I mean, messing up my manicure was not an option! I really enjoyed the smooth ride, and the heated seats weren’t so bad either!  I believe women want the same thing in the perfect outfit they want in a vehicle, something that works in any setting, on trend, and most importantly a brand that is known for style, and the Lincoln MKC certainly fits the mold of the perfect outfit for me! It’s a perfect fit!

Posh and Popular Lincoln

Being Posh and Popular is certainly a mindset, an overall way of life. I believe classy and edgy go hand in hand, and this SUV fits that mold, and is perfect for any Posh and Popular doll! Happy Birthday To ME!!

GUESS WHO TURNED 33 TODAY??? ME!!!!!

Birthdays are so special to me… It’s truly a time to reflect over the progress you’ve made in your life, and most importantly celebrate your life.
Every year of life we receive is truly a blessing, and I never take one ounce of it for granted. This year I turn 33, and let me tell you, I have never been more sure of myself than I am right now. What a blessing!

I was so excited to turn 33 this year, for many reasons, but the biggest reason is because, I’ve dubbed it as, my miraculous year. You see in the Bible, Jesus didn’t start his ministry until He was 33 years of age. He didn’t perform His greatest miracles until He was 33. So for me, it’s the start of some miraculous things I know God has in store for my life! I believe with everything in my heart, that this year will be one of the BEST years of my life. Mentally, spiritually, professionally, and relational wise. And I believe my “ministry” that is Posh and Popular will truly touch the lives of many. I believe my love for fashion will open doors I could cease to understand, this year. It just feels GOOD! I have never been this sure of who I am, then what I am right now!

This year I have celebrated all month long, and the highlight of my celebration was traveling to LA for a week! That trip was significant, because it was exactly 10 years ago that I took the biggest step of my life and moved to LA to pursue my dreams! It was 10 years ago, while living in LA, God was preparing me for blogging, and finding my purpose. It was through living in LA, that I realized what I should ultimately be doing with my life. So of course I had to go back to the place where finding my “voice”started!

It was so nostalgic being there, but it felt just as good being there as the day I moved 10 years ago, only this time I had a tribe of friends that have become family to make my trip even more special! From amazing dinners at some of the best restaurants in the city, to shopping on Wilshire Blvd., connecting with friends I hadn’t seen in 8 years, to getting pampered on Robertson Blvd, and getting my make-up done in Beverly Hills, my trip was nothing short of amazing!

But the most amazing part was having the opportunity to shoot with my brother and dear friend, the famous photographer, Mr. Elton Anderson! When I tell you Elton made my LA trip the best experience, I mean it!!! He like I, is just a kid from Detroit that had a dream to pursue his passion, and it has taken him all over the world! His success, is something to admire and to push for. Living a life full of purpose with no regrets, operating in your passion. That is something worth fighting for! This trip sparked a whole new fire in me, so get the fire hose ready, because I’m about to be smokin hot this year!

Every year I reflect on what I’ve learned and how I can grow from my past experiences, and this year, I am choosing to live intentionally. To create memories and experiences that will last a lifetime. To live with no regrets and just GO FOR IT! On this my 33rd birthday, I choose ME! I choose to pursue my happiness by any means necessary! To go for the promises God has for me! To inspire people everywhere I go, and to leave a little love every place I step foot in.

I am the happiest I have been in a long time, and I know it’s going to get better each day of this new year of my life! I’m choosing to surround myself with what is positive! I wish blessing to everyone around me and all of my Posh Dolls! The best is yet to come and I am so excited!!!

Thank you for celebrating with me, and making this the best birthday yet!!!

Because I Can, and I Will!

Has anyone ever asked you silly questions like, “Why are you trying to do that?” Or, “Nobody is doing that, what makes you think you can?” And my favorite, “Why do you think you can make that happen?”. When I hear people ask questions like that, my first thought is to sympathize with the fact that they’re so small minded they can’t see the vision or they may even lack the confidence to pursue their goals, and usually my response to them is, “Because I Can.”

Don’t ever let anyone tell you what you can’t accomplish, because you can.

Don’t ever let anyone interrupt your hustle because they can’t achieve the same goal, because you can.

Millioneiress was founded in the Summer of 2013 in New York City by designer, Leah Kirsch.

I connect with Leah 3 years ago via social media. She and I both launched our brands around the same time. What I liked most about Leah’s company, was it had a message. I wasn’t just another t-shirt company throwing out the same four or five quotes you’ve seen everywhere! I reached out to Leah and told her how much her brand inspired me, and she gifted me these items, and I promised her I would post about it. Little did I know, these words would ring true in my personal and professional journey.  When I wear this t-shirt, I remind myself that I can do anything I put my mind to, because I can!

If you didn’t notice, Millioneiress has the word ‘one’ directly in the middle. Meaning, a Millioneiress femme is one in a million.

The brand was created to empower girls to be unapologetically themselves, to recognize her uniqueness and embrace her flaws just as much as her assets. Leah was inspired by the quote, “Don’t forget to fall in love with yourself first.” When you love yourself through and through, you will inevitably have the confidence to take on new challenges or experience things you’ve always wanted. You’ll be able to hold your head a little higher and express your opinion a little louder. When you feel good on the inside, what’s on the outside will follow. That’s exactly what Millioneiress aims to do.

Leah explains that girls don’t have to dress in little, tight clothing to be sexy. But instead, that sexiness comes from within and how she carries herself. When you are confident in who you are, you become magnetic. You will become a leader to those around you and in your own life.

Do and be who you are, unapologetically. Because you can.

I love this brand, and what it stands for, not to mention the quality is amazing. During the hot summer months, it’s awesome to have a great tee and hat that is stylish and effortlessly dope! You see easily paired with your favorite jeans, and a cute heel or sandal can pull this casual look together!  Just remember to put your confidence on as well doll, it’s the best accessory!

A Little Glitz and Tam!

Looking for a cute way to update any look, or cover up a “bad hair” day? The Tam has been my secret weapon for the last 15 years. What is a Tam you ask? Well, Wikipedia defines it as, ” a millinery design for women based on the Tam o’ shanter military cap and the beret. Sometimes it was also known as a tam cap, or the traditional term tam o’shanter might also be used. It became popular in the early 1920s when it followed the prevailing trends for closer-fitting hats that suited shorter hairstyles and for borrowing from men’s fashion; other traditional men’s hats that rose to popularity in women’s fashion during this period included the top hat and bowler.”

I simply define the Tam as, my signature look. I love a great sequins Tam! I have about ten colors, and I love them because they can instantly turn any look from drab to fab!

I always felt the Tam gave a Parisian feel to any look I put together. Being a lover of vintage styles, I immediately gravitated towards this accessory, and the price didn’t hurt either. I have been buying this accessory from my local beauty supply store for years, or stealing them from my grandmother’s closet! Everyone’s grandmother has a Tam! To me, it says class and style in the same breath.

And, what’s a great look without a fun shoe? You dolls know I always wait until my favorite department stores have their major shoe sales each season.  Why pay full price?  I snagged these beauties last summer preparing for my nuptials. I was on a gold, nude, and crystal kick majority of last year, and my shoe collection was enhanced because of it! And of course I was looking for a deal any and everywhere I could find one in 2015. And behold, look at what the shoe gods blessed me with! Super fab at a fraction of the cost! Who said Gucci, wasn’t affordable?

IMG_7254

But I digress… Back to my favorite accessory! Another amazing thing about wearing a sequins Tam is that it dresses up my look instantaneously! Whether I am wearing jeans and a t-shirt, or a basic lace blouse and accordion pant, this fun embellishment can amplify the quality of any look. And, year round might I add! I am a believer in having items in my wardrobe that I can wear all year, and a Tam is a glorious embellishment to wear from winter to summer. ** For the winter, however, a beret is a great alternative**

So remember, if you’re having a bad hair day, or just need to spice up your look with a little sparkle, get yourself a Tam, girl!! You’ll thank me, I guarantee!

Summer, Summer, Summertime!

“And so with the sunshine and the great bursts of leaves growing on the trees, just as things grow in fast movies, I had that familiar conviction that life was beginning over again with the summer.”     –   F. Scott Fitzgerald, The Great Gatsby

It is finally summer!!! I have been waiting all year for this season! If you’re anything like me, you love the warmth of the sun on your skin, popsicles, and short shorts. It feels so good to finally dress for comfort and fun! This time of year it’s all about freedom and function. I am ready to break out the tank tops, sandals, and soft colors. (more…)

A Simple Sparkle & Shine!

IMG_1290

Keeping your look simple doesn’t always mean you have to be super conservative. You can always add a touch of glitz and glamour to any easy going look. Some days I don’t feel like wearing tons of jewelry, so I opt for a little sparkle in my attire!

Some days a cute top, with a pop of color can do the trick! The simplest looks can often turn the most heads! No jewelry, just glammed face and nails! I even love doing this look with a simple white t-shirt and hat! (more…)

Camouflage Cutie!

IMG_1221

If you can believe this or not, there was a time in my life were I used to be afraid of doubling up bold prints… Yes, that’s right. You could not have paid me to put print on top of print. I would have preferred to just blend in, and not stand out with prints,  a chameleon of some sort… But now… I’m like, keep the colors coming! The bolder the better! I’ve actually had this ensemble since last year and never had an opportunity to wear it, so at the first sight of a beautiful spring day, I was ready to bust it out for a day in the city! Whether you’re going to a girls luncheon, shopping, church, or the tons of other places us girls-on-the-go frequent, it’s ok to add a pop of color in a room full of black and white!

Beauty Secrets I Live By: Fresh Face Glamour!

For every woman, there is that one thing that makes you feel like your look is complete. For some it is the right hairstyle, for others it’s a certain necklace or pair of earring. For me, it’s a perfect makeup application. I never feel completely glammed or ready for a great event or night out without my makeup done to perfection. Keeping a great BEAT is the key to perfection for me!

I think it started from my days as a pageant girl and a performer. As a singer, even if I didn’t have a lot of money for a great new outfit, I would always splurge to get my hair and makeup done for a dramatic over the top look! I also think that your face is the first thing people notice, so creating a flawless look can always leave a lasting impression!

Now, I am not a professional makeup artist, so my day to day makeup looks are generally very fresh faced, but I keep a great artist on deck! And I think every fashionista should. All Posh and Popular Dolls should have at least 4 makeup artists in your contact list that you can call for those special events in your life.

Between my engagement photos, bridal shower, (more…)

How I Made DIY Bridal Projects Fabulous!

0780-brown

Having expensive taste, does not always mean you need to break the bank! There are tons of things you can do at home with friends and family to help save money during your planning process. There are so many things I loved while I searched Etsy and some of my favorite bridal magazines, but as I started getting price quotes, I thought to myself, I can make that myself. And that is exactly what I did. I cut the majority of my costs in half, just by taking on my on DIY projects. I wanted to stay true to myself throughout the entire planning process, and I didn’t want to cut corners on the extremely important things, so I really had to evaluate what I knew I could do on my own, that wouldn’t compromise the essence of our classic glam wedding.

Escort Cards: My favorite project out of all of my DIY’s would have to be the mirrored escort cards! I knew I wanted a very classic and glamorous element, but I wanted something that I had never seen done before. I mean what’s more creative then a mirrored place card that guests can take home with them and use!?

The first thing I did was head to my favorite craft store here in Michigan to see if I could find mirrors the size of a business card in bulk. And I found exactly that! I was able to get 300 mirrors for less than $60. Keep in mind, most calligraphers charge $1.50-$2.50 per name they have to write, and that doesn’t include the mirror or paper they are writing on, so already I have saved anywhere from $500-$750 dollars. I did a bit of research, and communicated with some of my favorite calligraphers and found that paint pens are the best pens to use to write on mirrors. So to Michael’s I went! Paint pens cost about $10 for a pack of 2. I decided white pens would show better on the mirrors after trying out both gold and white. The pens I couldn’t use were returnable, so I took the pens back that didn’t work so well. Keep in mind the small pen size was the best, extra thin was too thin, and the medium was too large for the font size I was looking for.  Then the auditions began!! *insert giggle*  I auditioned all my friend with great handwriting, and my bestie Nina won! Whoop-whoop! I didn’t have to have a specific font type in mind, as much as I wanted very romantic cursive! That was my choice. I did what worked for my taste. Nina’s handwriting was perfect, and she was a trooper writing the names of everyone on my guest list for me (290 to be exact). I gave her a beautiful gift to show my gratitude. **Make sure you thank the people that are giving you their time! That is a must.**

My final touch was adding the mini crystal broaches to each mirror. They were super easy to apply, and they are stick on, so it wasn’t super messy to work with. I wanted to keep the broach element since my wedding invitations all had broaches of some kind on them. Making sure every element of your wedding has a central theme and is cohesive, creates the perfect ambiance for your big day!

Isn't this beautiful, I sure thought so!

Isn’t this beautiful, I sure thought so!

Table Numbers: I knew I wanted crystal table numbers, but didn’t wish to pay the hefty $680 it would have cost, for numbers 1-25, so I went an alternate route. The same store I got the mirrors for the escort cards, is the same store I purchased the round mirrors for the table numbers! And guess what, I only paid $20 for 30 round medium sized mirrors! I was able to find the stands for the mirrors at the Dollar store, you read correctly, the Dollar Store! So, the next challenge was to find the numbers. Etsy to the rescue. I found a store on Etsy, Couture Embellishment, look them up! They sold the crystal adhesive numbers I needed, and I paid $72 including shipping. (more…)
