Powered by GMC, The Fashion and Beauty Summit Returned Bigger and Better in 2017
A month has passed and I am still on a high from this amazing GMC powered experience. The 2nd Annual Posh and Popular Fashion and Beauty Summit was nothing short of amazing. Never in my wildest dreams did I think this one idea, this little vision, would impact the lives of so many remarkable women. This year we hosted the 2nd Annual Posh and Popular Fashion and Beauty Summit at the fabulous, Greektown Casino Hotel’s Ballroom, in the heart of Downtown Detroit! The first summit of its kind, in Detroit, MI, provides lovers of the fashion and beauty industry the tools they need to grow a flourishing brand, learn from some of the best names in the industry, and connect with others who share the same love for such an amazing and ever evolving industry. GMC helped to take this amazing summit to the next level by Powering the event, and I am so honored to have had the participation of such a multifaceted car brand. The mission to empower, enlighten, and excite every woman in attendance, was accomplished!
Our Mistress of Ceremonies, Jessica Lundy, Television Personality and Detroit TV20 host, did a fantastic job of keeping our attendees engaged throughout the day! She was certainly born to host, because her skill showed throughout the day! We even had a resident DJ! The one and only DJ Rue kept the sounds going and the energy high the entire day!
More than 200 Business Women and Fashionistas experienced live beauty demonstrations and makeovers with some of the best make-up artists and hair stylists in the industry, including celebrity hair and make-up artist, Kristen White owner of Kristen White Imagery, of Atlanta, GA, celebrity make-up artist, Chaniece Coleman, and celebrity hairstylist, Dezi Santiago, owner of Sway’d Style Lounge in Birmingham Michigan. Attendees also experienced a natural hair beauty demonstration sponsored by Curls during our Beauty Breakout Sessions, facilitated by natural hair blogging powerhouses Janae Mason of Nae2Curly and Romance Cox of Hey Curlie.
We had over 25 vendors apart of our Posh Pop-Up Experience and a stylish glam suite for our attendees to get pampered and relax in between sessions! I am still upset I didn’t get to shop with each one, nor did I get my message with the staff from Bee’s Beauty Bar…. I promise, next year, I am going to enjoy more of the fun stuff!
Attendees took advantage of dynamic business breakout sessions, facilitated by me the founder of the Fashion and Beauty Summit, Kimberly M. Dobine on Communication in Business, Jessica Herron, Attorney at Honigman Law Firm presented “How to Protect Your Brand”, and Ebony Swank, owner of Swank-a-Posh Boutique facilitated her, Brand Like Swank Workshop, providing attendees with the tools they need to launch their own successful online fashion brands. Thought provoking panel discussions on topics like “The Power of Partnerships” and “The Business of Blogging” provided attendees with the information, resources and real life experiences from our panelists, to truly feel confident in their pursuit of building their dream fashion and beauty brands. The Posh and Popular Fashion and Beauty Summit equipped each attendee with the knowledge, tools, and resources needed to help them on the path to begin to be the digital influencer in the world of fashion and beauty they desire to be, as well as the savvy business woman they need to be to stay successful in their perspective field!
Our attendees also experienced two powerful keynote addresses, from two passionate and high powered women in the fashion and beauty industry, Ronne Brown and Nichole Lynel.
Ronne started the morning off with our signature ‘Beauty from the Inside Out’ keynote address. I believe it’s not enough to just be a great business woman, it’s also extremely important to be a woman of integrity, good character, and substance. Ronne did a phenomenal job of sharing her journey and important life lessons each lady could easily apply in their own lives.
Nichole Lynel also brought a fun and energetic presence to our main stage. Walking out to Beyoncé’s ‘Shining’, she ended our day with great energy and a powerful story of what pursuing purpose truly looks like. Both ladies touched each and every woman in attendance, including me!
I cannot forget our sneak peak of the amazing documentary She Did That, brought to us by Renae Bluitt of In Her Shoes Blog! Not only was Renae a panelist on the “Business of Blogging” panel, but she also hosted the “She Did That.” sneak peek featuring some of our favorite Detroit Girl Bosses, Kelli Coleman and Anika Jackson, co-founders of the Ten Nail Bar, and Melissa Butler, owner of The Lip Bar, who all appear in the film! GMC Also, Powered this screening, providing our attendees with branded popcorn for the occasion!
