Disney’s The Lion King made it’s way to the Detroit Opera House and no one was more excited than Lourdes and I! If you missed this extraordinary Broadway production that won six Tony Awards and remains one of the most popular musicals in the world, you truly missed a masterpiece.

After spending the last month and a half laying low and being cautious about everywhere we’ve gone as a family, it was high time to have a date night with 3 of my favorite little ladies! I was beyond excited to hear that Lourdes’ favorite Disney movie, turned live musical, The Lion King was coming to Detroit! And Lourdes was even more excited when I finally told her where we were going!! I love a good surprise! Being a mother is truly my greatest joy, so having the opportunity to have my daughter experience this once in a lifetime production was truly a dream come true. Broadway in Detroit truly makes it possible for Metro Detroiters to experience our favorite Broadway musicals without having to plan a trip to New York. It’s truly a luxury Detroit residents should all take advantage of!

Creating memorable moments with my daughter, goddaughter, and little cousin is so important to me, so what better way to do that, than a night at the theater! We literally had the best seats in the house. Front row, center of all the action. From beginning to end, The Lion King dazzled and captivated the entire audience.

Broadway in Detroit does an incredible job bringing some of my favorite Broadway shows to the city and I’m so thrilled to have had this incredible experience! From beginning to end, our experience was first class! Did I mention we had front row seats, dead center of all the action!? I just wanted to make sure I mentioned that, again.. LOL

From beginning to end this show was simply marvelous and captivating! My favorite part aside from the colorful costumes was the music. Such beautiful voices from all the actors that were showcased. My daughter’s favorite scene was definitely Hakuna Matata! It was so stunning to watch from start to finish, mine most definitely was the opening number featuring my favorite song, Circle of Life! When I say The Lion King is an experience, it truly is! The movement, the costumes, the lighting, and all the intricate details truly brought this feature film to life on stage.

This year is all about intention for me, and being extremely intentional about the moments I create with my daughter and those I love, are so important to me. I’m just thrilled that #BroadwayinDetroit had a special part in this year of intention for me, with this once in a lifetime moment!
